After carefully unpacking your speakers, the carton
and the packing material should be saved for possible
use later. If any speaker appears to be damaged, do
not attempt to repair or to connect the unit to the
amplifier. Repack the speaker and notify your
distributor or M&S Systems for replacement or repair.

The WS5 outdoor speakers can be mounted on an
outdoor canopy or wall or placed on a shelf. They
should be separated by 6 to 8 feet for good stereo
separation. The brackets should be attached to a stud
or mounted using an anchor-screw for a secure
mount.

The WS5 speakers are packaged with mounting
brackets that allow for either vertical or horizontal
mounting.
NEVER MOUNT THE BRACKETS TO SHEETROCK WITHOUT
SOME TYPE OF ANCHOR.
When attaching the mounting brackets to the speaker,
first connect the speaker wire, then attach the
mounting bracket.
To connect the mounting bracket, secure the speaker
to the bracket using the supplied knob. Line the
bracket up with the speaker and screw the knob into
each end of the speaker to tighten the speaker to the

The WS5 speakers come with 5-way, gold plated,
binding posts. The binding posts are color-coded for
polarity—red is positive (+) and black is negative (-).
Follow the steps below for connecting your WS5
speakers:
1. Turn off the receiver or amplifier and unplug it from
the power outlet.
2. Use a 2-conductor 16-gauge speaker wire (M&S part
number MS16X5) for runs up to 100 feet. For
additional information on speaker wire runs contact
our Technical Support team at 1-800-366-9422.
NOTE: REMOVE ABOUT 2 INCHES OF THE OUTSIDE JACKET
FROM BOTH ENDS OF THE WIRE THEN STRIP APPROXIMATELY
½ INCH OF THE INSULATION FROM EACH CONDUCTOR AT
THE SPEAKER END. USE THE RECOMMENDED STRIP LENGTH AS
SPECIFIED IN THE AMPLIFIER/RECEIVER INSTALLATION MANUAL

FOR THE OTHER END.
3. Connect one wire from the black/negative (-)
terminal of the left speaker to the black/negative (-
) terminal on the left speaker output channel of
your amplifier or receiver.
NOTE: MOST SPEAKER WIRE IS COLOR CODED OR RIBBED
ON ONE SIDE FOR EASY IDENTIFICATION OF THE POSITIVE
AND NEGATIVE LEADS.
4. Connect the other wire from the red/positive (+)
terminal of the left speaker to the red/positive (+)
output terminal on the left channel of your
amplifier or receiver.
5. Repeat these steps when hooking up your right
channel speaker with the right channel of your
amplifier or receiver.
6. Plug in your amplifier or receiver, turn it on and
start enjoying your new WS5 outdoor speakers.
